The pediatric health care providers of Wheaton Pediatrics are
committed to providing a “medical home” where parents
and their children feel comfortable asking questions, and look
to us as their primary health care resource whether the children
are ill or in good health. We want to ensure the proper growth
and development of our patients, whether they are essentially
healthy or have special health needs. We feel this is best accomplished
by working as a team with the parents, for no one knows your
child as well as you do. We will strive to use the most up-to-date
treatments and guidelines, while practicing with the old-fashioned
values of honesty, open communication, listening, compassion,
and when appropriate, a sense of humor. In a quick-fix world,
we are looking to establish a long-term relationship with our
families.
About Us
Wheaton Pediatrics was started by Dr. Peter Liber in
1987. He began as a solo practitioner, and the practice slowly
grew to its present size of 8 pediatricians (5 full-time and
3 part-time) and 2 nurse practitioners. We currently have one
office in the Town Square shopping center in Wheaton (see Location
Map for map, address and phone number).
We offer the full range
of pediatric health services:
- newborn care at Central DuPage Hospital
- well child care from birth through college age
- sick care (usually with same day appointments when needed)
- school and sports physicals
- referrals to specialists when needed
- care for children with special health needs
- care for internationally adopted children
Our physicians are also on staff at Children’s Memorial
Hospital in Chicago, and have a good working relationship with
the specialists there, as well as specialists at other area hospitals.
The
physicians of Wheaton Pediatrics are all board certified and
members of the American Academy of Pediatrics, which signifies
a commitment to keeping up-to-date with the latest developments
in pediatric care.
Pediatric Nurse Practitioners
Wheaton Pediatrics is privileged to employ Vanda Marsh and Cathy Moroni, two expert health care providers delivering a unique blend of nursing and medical care. Both are advanced practice nurses nationally certified in pediatrics, also known as Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (PNP). A PNP is a registered nurse with a graduate academic degree and advanced pediatric clinical experience, which enables him or her to diagnose and manage most pediatric illnesses, either independently or as part of a health care team.
Nurse practitioners:
- Provide primary care for infants and children, including well child examinations and sick visits, childhood immunizations, school and sports physicals
- Provide anticipatory guidance regarding common child health concerns
- Contribute to management of stable chronic medical conditions
- Perform routine developmental screenings
- Diagnose and treat common childhood illnesses
- Order medicines and diagnostic testing when needed
- Promote positive health behaviors and self-care skills through education and counseling
- Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals as needed
The nursing model focuses on the whole person, not just the illness. PNPs are often able to spend more time with families and children, providing high quality medical care and health counseling.
Cathy and Vanda also have areas of expertise. Having an additional degree in psychology, Cathy is highly skilled in managing children and adolescents with chronic illness. Vanda has advanced certification for management and education of children with asthma. She also has a special interest in evaluating and treating children with attention deficit disorder.
