Peter I. Liber, M.D.
Dr. Liber has been practicing pediatrics since 1987, when he founded Wheaton Pediatrics. A native of Gary, Indiana, he attended the University of Chicago, where he earned his degree with honors in Biology. He received his M.D. from Indiana University in 1984, and completed his residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago in 1987. He is still an Instructor in Pediatrics in the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He speaks Ukrainian, and welcomes the opportunity to care for Ukrainian speaking patients. His other professional interests include caring for children with asthma, ADHD and for internationally adopted children. He will also provide pre-adoption counseling in these cases. Dr. Liber is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He lives in Wheaton with his wife and four children (including twins), and enjoys playing basketball, attending his children’s sporting events and walking his family dog, Charlie Brown.
Ute L. Monson, M.D.
Dr. Monson has been practicing pediatrics since 1995 and began working at Wheaton Pediatrics in January, 1998. Born and raised in La Jolla, California, she was valedictorian of her high school class. She subsequently earned her bachelors degree in biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego, graduating with highest honors. During her college years she also maintained a part-time research position in a biochemistry lab at the Scripps Clinic and Research Institute in La Jolla. Dr. Monson received her M.D. from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle, Washington in 1995. Next she spent two years working as a primary care pediatrician in Seattle and moved to Wheaton in 1997 when her husband was hired as a professor at Wheaton College. She loves working at Wheaton Pediatrics where her professional interests include child behavior and development, patient/parent education, and preventative medicine. Dr. Monson speaks German fluently and likes working with German-speaking families. She is board certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She lives in Wheaton with her husband and two young sons and in her free time enjoys music, photography, baking, needlework, and evenings spent walking to downtown Wheaton with family and friends for ice cream or coffee.
Ruben J. Rucoba, M.D.
Dr. Rucoba has been practicing pediatrics since 1992, and has been at Wheaton Pediatrics since March, 1999. A native of the south suburbs of Chicago, he attended Loyola University of Chicago, where he earned his degree with honors in English Literature. He received his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco, and completed residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Prior working at Wheaton Pediatrics, Dr. Rucoba worked at a community health center in Chicago and at Children’s Memorial Hospital, where he was a faculty member of the Department of Pediatrics teaching medical students and residents. He is still an Instructor in Pediatrics in the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He speaks Spanish, and welcomes the opportunity to care for Spanish speaking patients. His other professional interests include caring for children with special health care needs and for internationally adopted children. He will also provide pre-adoption counseling in these cases. Dr. Rucoba is board certified in pediatrics, and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He lives in Wheaton with his wife and four children (including twins), and enjoys reading, golf and squirt gun fights.
